St. Philip Antiochian Church
Project Description
The website for St. Philip Antiochian Orthodox Church was developed as a fully customized WordPress platform over a 3-month timeline. Our team collaborated to create a modern and visually cohesive online presence that reflected the church’s identity, using a classic theme that I helped refine and stylize through SASS for consistent design and a clean user experience.
To provide the church with a structured and easy-to-use content management system, the team first reorganized the site’s content and navigation to make information easier to find. Then I implemented Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create custom post types and field groups for organizations, committees, and members. I also integrated Forminator for custom forms and embedded the church’s Google Event Calendar, allowing members to easily view upcoming services and activities.
The site also includes WooCommerce, allowing the church to sell a variety of products with fully customized store pages that match the rest of the website. Overall, the website provides an easy-to-manage, functional platform that helps the church run its operations smoothly and keeps the community connected.
Role
As one of the developers on the team, I was responsible for installing WordPress on the server and setting it up for proper testing and functionality. I handled the WooCommerce store setup, making it easy for the church to manage products and post new items independently.
I also managed the majority of the ACF setup, creating custom post types and field groups for those posts. Some fields were connected through relationships, allowing different types of content to link to each other and making the backend more organized. A key part of my role was reviewing and restructuring the site’s content. The site included a large amount of text, and I edited and rewrote content where necessary, keeping what was relevant and making it more user-friendly and accessible.
After the project was completed, I used Duplicator to migrate the website to my personal server for backup and portfolio purposes. This project strengthened my skills in content organization, WordPress structuring, site migration, and preparing a site that could be easily maintained by the client.
